Juan Zárate's Bracero Identification card visualizes:

  • How regimes of immigration and labor implement photographic visualization as part of larger system of disciplining and subjecting the body to toxic materials.
  • How ethnographic visualizations serve to expose the relations behind the construction of state visual products (Alien Contract Cards) and toxic (laboring) subjects.  
  • How the creation of toxic (laboring) subjects is part of system that implements toxicity to maximize the accumulation of agro-capital and industrialized food production.
  • How toxicity continues to inflect social worlds and memories.
