This porcelain cup belonged to the Missionary Fritz Sundermeier (1913 - 1978) who was sent by the Evangelist Mission Society in Wuppertal (formerly named Barmen, West Germany) to Wupperthal (Cape Town Region) where he lived and worked several decades. The cup was handed over to the VEM (Vereinigte Evangelische Mission) archive by a family member after his death with the information that this cup was given to the missionary by an Imam from the Cape region.
