This essay describes Tarek Mohamed's research program. Tarek is interested in interrogating the social, political and cultural structures and dynamics that produce, sustain and reproduce violence. He is also interested in both textual and structural violence. His research looks at how to read state and societal violence within a country from the perspective of its diasporic communities. In other words, his research is focusing on the dynamics that produce expulsion from the realms of citizenship
