FPGA: Pathways

Material from the Formosa Archive has been included and narrated in different kinds of "toxic tours". For example, the digital exhibit Sugar Plantation, Chemical Plants, COVID-19 features stops at the Whitney Plantation, located on land that used to be owned by Formosa Plastics (with plans to build a rayon plant). In 2021, the No Formosa USA coalition organized a virtual toxic tour webinar with around 200 participants. While the tour was in a slideshow format, visual material and background information was pulled from various sections of the Formosa archive. Our Design Group has also organized a physical exhibit in Taipei that focused on a set of courtroom sketches and brief captions. The goal of the exhibit was to build relations with community members, especially Vietnamese activists living in Taiwan. Working on the exhibition has also worked as a way to prepare a rich digital photo essay for the sketches.
